Frequently asked questions
Is this legally binding?
Yes. Autograph produces legally binding e-signatures under the US ESIGN Act and Canadian PIPEDA/UECA legislation. Every signed document includes a 17-action audit trail, SHA-256 integrity hashing, and a Legal Certificate of Completion appended to the sealed PDF.
Do my signers need an account?
No. Signers receive an email with a secure, single-use signing link. They review the document, give consent, confirm their identity, draw their signature, and they're done. No account, no app download, no password.
What does the completed document look like?
After all parties sign, the PDF is sealed with signatures embedded directly into the document. A Legal Certificate of Completion is appended as the final page, containing SHA-256 hashes of the original and signed versions, signer details (email, IP, timestamp), and the full audit trail.
How do credits work?
Free accounts get 2 agreement credits. One credit is used each time you send an agreement for signing, regardless of how many signers it has. Pro and Lifetime plans have unlimited credits.
Can I cancel Pro anytime?
Yes. Pro is billed monthly or annually and you can cancel at any time through the Stripe customer portal. Your existing agreements, signatures, and audit trails are preserved after cancellation.
Where is my data stored?
All data — documents, signatures, audit logs, and authentication — is stored in Canada (ca-central-1, Montreal) for PIPEDA data residency compliance.
Is Autograph HIPAA compliant?
No. Autograph is not HIPAA compliant and should not be used for documents containing protected health information. It is designed for standard business agreements, contracts, and freelance work.
